I’m Transferring to Monclova Tomorrow!

This message from Bronson is short and to the point. However, we got to talk (Skype) with him for an hour and a half yesterday! He looks great, and was grinning from ear to ear almost the entire time. His Spanish is sounding quite good, and he even translated for us so we could speak to the family that was letting him use their computer to talk to us. I’m.. Read More

“We Are Going to Another Church and Don’t Want You to Come Back”

Here are some excerpts from Bronson’s last two letters. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. My new companion, Elder Johnson, is pretty great. I feel like I have a lot in common with him. He likes music, was in choir in high school, and actually knows what “Broadway” is. 🙂 He is a little shorter than me. He is very obedient too. The work is going better now.. Read More

Semana Santa (Easter Week), General Conference in Spanish, and “Park Contacting” With a Video

I love the variety of information we get in Bronson’s letters. In this week’s letter, he told us about General Conference and the Easter holiday. Also, a new tool provided by the Church that helped him and his companion do some contacting in a Saltillo park. Enjoy! General Conference this week was great. They broadcast it in Spanish live right to the stake center, but sadly not that many people.. Read More

Andrea, “Futbol y Pollo”, and Photos!

Bronson was able to baptize Andrea this week, who he mentioned in his last post. His letters are short, but it is clear to us that he is doing well, is healthy, and very happy. He would love to get even just a short note from all of you! If you have a spare 2 minutes, drop him a note at bronson.miner@myldsmail.net. We baptized Andrea on Saturday and she was.. Read More

Rejection Does Not Equal Defeat

Here’s an update from Bronson. He’s still in Saltillo, and doesn’t expect to be transferred until May. I included a photo of a sunrise in Saltillo that was posted on the mission Facebook page by a member of the Church there. This week went by fast! We have new people to teach, but they are all still in the first lesson stage (lesson 0). I think the work here is good,.. Read More

You Know What’s Annoying? When a Drunk Guy…

Bronson seems to be rocking it in Saltillo. Another baptism this week, this time with a young (newly) married couple. Here is an excerpt from his letter: The couple we were teaching, finally got baptized! They have been meeting with the missionaries off and on for over a year. They were unable to get baptized because they were not married.  She didn’t want to get married at first, but thanks.. Read More

We Baptized Oziel!

Bronson has been teaching a young man named Oziel. Read about his baptism below! We baptized Oziel!! It was an amazing experience for me and especially for him. Lots of people came to the baptism. It helped a lot that the Torres family could be a big support for both me and him. They are a big family in the ward and are all really active in the Church. Since.. Read More

Bus Ride: 53 cents. Taxi Ride: $1.59

I asked Bronson what a typical day consists of for him. This is his reply: A typical day consists of the following: 6:30 Wake up 7:00 Eat breakfast, shower 8:00 Personal study –  studying things like the scriptures and “Preach My Gospel” – a manual containing a lot of information about how and what we teach people about the Gospel. There are lots of other resources for missionaries that we.. Read More

I’m Staying Put in Saltillo

It looks like the camera problem has been solved. It turns out that one of the SD cards he took has been corrupted. We are hoping that all the pictures he took up until now can be somehow salvaged from the card. For now he has switched cards and everything seems to be working again. Unfortunately, still no pictures to share this week. I asked Bronson to share a little.. Read More

Another Miracle Happened This Week

Still no word on what is wrong with Bronson’s camera, so, still no new photos. His spirits are high, and it sounds like the language is becoming less of a challenge as time goes on. Here is his update for this week, along with another past photo: This week has finally been speeding up for me. The work is pretty good, we have about 5 progressing investigators. One of them..
