Bronson is nearing the end of his time as a missionary. In exactly 5 weeks from today, he’ll be sitting in our living room wondering what to do with all of his free time! Actually, he will be busy with school registration, finding a job, and getting back in to the swing of things. But that’s still a whole 5 weeks away. There is still a lot of work to do in Saltillo! His current area is a little more affluent than he is accustomed to, which comes with some unique challenges. Also, he is much better at staying focused on the work than we are here at home! Here are some excerpts from his recent emails.
Here in Saltillo, we are having a hard time finding new people and keeping the existing people progressing. It’s a little more difficult to get into people’s houses to teach. We are making a stronger effort to encourage the members to find people and invite them to family home evenings. The people in this area are a little higher on the social class scale, so they are not accepting us as easily as in other areas.
On the bright side, I was able to translate for the mission president’s wife on Sunday at our stake conference! I was a little nervous, but it went really well. The president and his wife are really good people. It was super fun being able to translate from Spanish to English for her, and then from English to Spanish for her talk that she did.
We worked super hard this week, but we still feel like we didn’t make much progress. To put it into perspective, we found 21 new investigators, and that’s not including the ones that we already had before. None of them came to church. So that is what we are dealing with. We aren’t getting discouraged or anything, we are going to keep working hard in order to get these people progressing.
It’s getting a little colder here in Saltillo. Today was the first day that I wore a sweater. I forgot that when it gets colder in Saltillo, it gets foggy.
Have a great week, and thank you for your support!
