I love the variety of information we get in Bronson’s letters. In this week’s letter, he told us about General Conference and the Easter holiday. Also, a new tool provided by the Church that helped him and his companion do some contacting in a Saltillo park. Enjoy!

General Conference this week was great. They broadcast it in Spanish live right to the stake center, but sadly not that many people came, except the Sunday morning session. They have live translators in the back of the conference center giving the translation from English to Spanish almost in real-time with the talks. It’s very similar to the way they translate talks into English if a speaker gives a talk in his or her native language. All of the American missionaries in the zone (maybe 8 or 9) went into another room to watch it in English on a laptop. For one of the sessions, we had to all pile into a tiny secretary’s office and listen on KSL.com (my idea 🙂 ) because the laptop wasn’t smart enough to play the live feed to the stake center. I loved the talk that Elder Holland gave about the two brothers rock climbing, and comparing the younger brother to the Savior. He is always there to lift us “over the ledge”, even when we are not expecting it. I also liked the talk by sister Linda K. Burton about being a father and a husband. Overall it was pretty great. Most of the talks I heard focused on families and Easter.

Speaking of Easter, the entire week of Easter here is called Holy Week or “Semana Santa”. Everyone gets work and school off for the week before and the week after Easter.

On Friday, we went to this big park in the center of Saltillo to do some contacting. We wanted to use the Church’s new Easter video, “Because of Him“. That was very successful. We would walk out into the park on a path and find someone to talk to. Then we would ask if they wanted to walk over with us to watch the video on the projector that we set up. It was really helpful for me and I learned a lot about contacting people.

I love you all!
