Here are some excerpts from Bronson’s last two letters. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
My new companion, Elder Johnson, is pretty great. I feel like I have a lot in common with him. He likes music, was in choir in high school, and actually knows what “Broadway” is. 🙂 He is a little shorter than me. He is very obedient too.
The work is going better now here. We have been teaching a guy named Isaac for about a week now. He came to the first two hours of church with us. He is the guy who chased us down on the street to talk to us (the drunk guy) about a month ago. Then he said that he really wanted to change his life. Â He came to church with us and he liked it, and also really likes when we come over for lessons. During the last lesson we had with him on Saturday he told us that he has been trying really hard to stop his behavior that is contrary to the Church’s teachings because he knows that it is a big burden in his life. He also found all of the “I’m a Mormon” videos on Youtube (he speaks English pretty well) and they give him hope to keep trying. Along with great reading of the Book of Mormon, he also prays everyday. He is so strong, and I think it’s only a matter of time for him to get baptized. We have been trying to get some help from the members of the ward. It is amazing when the members help. It helps us because we will not always be here to be the investigator’s friend, and when they have a friend in the ward, it’s so much easier to help them keep going to Church after they are baptized.
Unfortunately, Isaac is our only true investigator right now. We set a date goal for baptism on the 9th of may, Because he is doing so well. He has so much faith. He has been to church 2 times, and we think that after 4 times, he will be ready for baptism. Also, we have faced a lot of rejection this week. I have experienced my first “we are going to another church and don’t want you to come back”. We are also struggling with keeping Mayra, the woman who is a very strong Catholic. She says that her children don’t want to change, because they like where they are right now. She feels the same and doesn’t want to change because she is comfortable where she is, but we will keep going a little longer to try to get Mayra to church once. I think if she came, she would like it.
Hope you all have a great week!!
